Climate Change in Layman’s! (Climate change 101)

Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, that means, it’s relatively transparent to visible light, and opaque to infrared. In very simple terms; Light comes in, heat gets trapped. So, if we put more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, more heat gets trapped,and the earth eventually warms up.

Here’s the tricky part, almost everything releases carbon dioxide, even us, when we breathe. Burning fossils, industrialization and even agriculture over the past years, have greatly increased the amount of Co2 in the atmosphere and with lesser trees by the day to suck up this Co2, our fate almost looks sealed. It’ll be impractical to want to end climate change completely, because then, we’ll all have to stop breathing, but there are definitely ways to greatly slow down the process.It starts with the very little things. Stuff we can all do as individuals; conserving water, reducing-reusing-recycling, avoiding one time use plastics, planting a tree or simply buying our produce packaged in eco-friendly bags??‍♀️ etc
